Lewiston, ME - The Lewiston Public Library will celebrate Banned Books Week from September 22 to 28, 2024. The event will feature a display on the first floor showcasing some of the most frequently banned books.
Highlighted titles include "Me and Earl and the Dying Girl" by Jesse Andrews, "Lawn Boy" by Jonathan Evison, and "The Bluest Eye" by Toni Morrison, which was noted as the most banned book of 2021. Other featured works are "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" by Mark Haddon, a winner of the 2004 Whitbread Book Awards, and "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee, a Pulitzer Prize novel.
