Starting Monday, October 7, road and bridge closures will take place in Lewiston, Maine, as part of the Signal Improvement Project by the Lewiston Public Works Department. The closures will last until Thursday, October 10, with construction expected to continue on the Wiseman Bridge until Friday, October 11.

The affected areas include:

- Wiseman Bridge and the intersection of Canal Street and Chestnut Street, which will be reduced to one lane.

- Chestnut Street will be closed from Mill Street to Lisbon Street.

These upgrades will involve the installation of new overhead traffic signals and pedestrian poles, addressing safety concerns, particularly at the Chestnut and Canal Street intersection, which has experienced multiple crashes.

Residents are encouraged to plan for alternate routes and allow extra time for travel during this period. The project aims to enhance the safety and efficiency of local streets.
